Privacy Policy

Local Legends (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a small two-person trades business based in Christchurch / Ōtautahi, New Zealand. This page explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do (and don't do) with it.

We aim to keep this short and plain-English. If anything is unclear, email us at seth@locallegends.nz and we'll sort it.

1. What we collect

The only personal information we collect is what you give us:

• Contact form submissions. When you fill in the contact form on our contact page, we receive your name, email address, phone number, the service you're asking about, your message, and whether you ticked the optional marketing box.
• Anonymous usage stats. We use Vercel Analytics to count page views and see which pages are popular. It's cookie-less, doesn't track you across other websites, and doesn't identify you personally.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, social media trackers, session recording, or fingerprinting on this site.

2. How we use it

We use the information you send through the contact form to:

• Reply to your enquiry and quote on the work.
• Schedule and carry out the job if you go ahead.
• Invoice you and keep records we're required to keep by law (e.g. tax records).
• If, and only if, you ticked the optional marketing box, very occasionally email you about seasonal offers or new services.

We don't sell, rent, or trade your information. We don't use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. Where it lives

Contact form submissions don't go into any database. They're delivered straight to our personal email inboxes via Resend, an email-delivery service. From there your message lives in our email accounts (Google / Microsoft) like any other email a customer might send us.

This website is built with Next.js and hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes the page requests that load the site and the contact form submission as it's on its way to email. Standard server logs (IP address, request time, browser) are kept by Vercel for a short period for security and reliability.

4. Third parties we rely on

We use a small number of well-known service providers to run the site. Each has its own privacy practices:

• Vercel: website hosting and anonymous analytics (privacy policy).
• Resend: delivers the contact-form email to our inboxes (privacy policy).
• Google Fonts: supplies the Inter typeface used on the site. Fonts are loaded via Next.js, which self-hosts them at build time, so your browser doesn't connect to Google when you visit the site.
• Our email providers (Google Workspace / Microsoft) . Once your message lands in our inbox it's subject to their privacy terms.

5. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry emails for as long as the job is active and for a reasonable period after (typically a few years) so we can answer questions about work we've done. Records we're required to keep for tax or legal reasons (e.g. invoices) are kept for the legally required period (currently 7 years in New Zealand).

If you ask us to delete your details and we're not legally required to keep them, we will.

6. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
• Withdraw your marketing consent at any time, by emailing us or replying “unsubscribe” to any marketing email.
• Make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you think we've mishandled your information.

Email seth@locallegends.nz for any of the above and we'll respond within a reasonable time (within 20 working days, as required by the Act).

7. Children

Our services aren't aimed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

8. Security

Submissions are sent over HTTPS. We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, including using reputable providers, strong account passwords, and limiting access to just us. No system is 100% secure, but we treat your details the same way we'd treat our own.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes that affect how we use information you've already given us will be flagged before they take effect.
